COASTAL BEND WOODCARVERS 2024 SEMINAR
This is a very short notice to another fabulous CBW seminar. Our previous website, texascarvers.org, expired and was taken over immediately by others. Rather than pay to try to buy it back. We are now “texascarvers.com”. Please help to spread the word to all of the woodcarvers that you know.
We only have 3 classes this year since we weren’t sure just how many carvers would be available to participate, especially with the short notice.
Class #1 Rob Rangle from the Texas woodcarvers guild. See Rob the woodcarver on Facebook to check out his work.
Rob will be teaching a cute fox on Monday & Tuesday or Wednesday & Thursday.
The cost of the 2 day class is $75 & a $25 roughout for a total of $100.
Class #2 Fred & Elaine Stenman known all over the country for their style of shallow relief carving. They are semi-retired but are willing to come teach for us this year as long as they have a minimum of 6 students. They are always well received wherever they teach. You will go home with a very nice carving. The cost for this class is $40/day and most students will need all 4 days.
Class #3 Rich Wetherbee. Rich is one of the early members of the Caricature Carvers of America. He is an excellent instructor and will be teaching 3 different disciplines at the seminar. You can take clay sculpture, cotton wood bark carving, or chose from 1 of his many roughouts or a combination of each. Rich will be introducing 2 brand new roughouts that haven’t been seen before. The cost for this class is $75/day & the cost of any clay, bark, or roughouts. You can take as many days as you would like, but a minimum of 2 days is recommended.
This is such an excellent opportunity for any carver to gain some very valuable knowledge. Please help us make this seminar a success so that we know that there is enough interest to continue yearly seminars.
If you would like to take a class, please call Tom Kreyling at 314-623-0208 or email me at kreyling@swbell.net. I would really like to know asap that you are planning to attend so that I can inform the instructors of the size of the classes. Please remember that these folks travel a long way to get here and will have to pay for their own housing and meals.
Below are some pictures from my files. The 1st one is the project that Rob Rangle is teaching. The next 3 are pictures are photos that I had from one of Rich’s classes. I will work with Rich & Fred to get more pictures.
Please remember that this is my first attempt to create a website, so if there are problems, I will be working to improve the site.
